"From the people I've been 

and the things I've done 

thoughts I've had 

and shared, 

feelings I've felt 

felt with others and felt alone,

the moments I've lived here 

that I won't live again,

the days I'll live again 

but differently 

different, maybe better, maybe not.

I hope 

that those little pieces

of time 

and place 

and self, 

never fade from 

their treasured place in my mind,

blurred around the 

edges, losing 

their vibrancy but never their life, 

and that 

I remember 

the teas shared 

and silly conversations had 

the paths walked, 

and the way 

the light 

catches the new leaves 

on the trees I've passed 

hundreds of times

and 

maybe 

never again."
